D.C. Sample was an early sheepman. He ranged over the mountains from lower Crown Valley to the brink of Tehipite Valley, and between Deer Creek and the North Fork of the Kings River. (Winchell, 158( The name is plural- "Meadows" -on the 15 minute quad. (SiNF) from Peter Browning's book Place Names of the Sierra Nevada: From Abbot to Zumwalt.
