Hike Info:
Type: Theme Park
Description:
This blog entry will not try
to give a blow-by-blow account of our time at DisneyLand. Rather a
more general feeling.
I must have been tired as I am
the last one up, getting up about 7:20. We have our breakfast. Then
walked over to Disneyland, getting into the Park around 9. We went
through security and walked through DisneyTown. Even in the daylight
this is not the DisneyLand I remember.

I should say here, as a young
kid, I remember camping at a campground close to Disneyland in some
orange groves. I do not think my family ever stayed in a hotel here.
Maybe we visited it on the way down to San Diego to visit my aunt and
her family. We never went on the E rides in those days. Being a young
kid, going to Disneyland was fun. I do remember coming down here in
college and visiting a friend who would eventually sing at our
wedding. Sherri and several other people were here. I do not remember
the rides, just being with people I enjoyed.

Later on our family came here.
Evidently the kids remember it. Sherri would take those who wanted to
on the rides which were more “interesting”, I was content and
much happier to go on the basic rides like the Pirates of the
Caribbean. This would eventually lead me to reading my way through
DisneyLand.

And that is how I will be
today, being content to go on the lamer rides and read which
everybody else enjoys the better rides. But Steven has other ideas
to get me involved. We go on a couple of the Star Ware themed rides.
They are more bumpy than thrill rides. Most of the attraction is the
visual, which DisneyLand is a master at creating the illusion of
travel rather than actuality.

Someplace in here, I finished
the book I am reading, The
Turn of the Screw
by Henry James.
Not sure how I will
rate this book. It may need a second going through, We meet Rachel
inside the park-good to see her feeling better. We do a couple more
rides such as the Pirates of the Caribbean and the Jungle Cruise,
complete with the puns and sly references which I enjoy. While not
terribly hot by Fresno standards, being in the direct sunlight has
taken a toll on us. First we stop by the DoleWhip places. Then we
decided that since it is approaching 3, maybe we should have
lunch/dinner. We decided that pizza would be good to eat at Naples.
We share three different individual pizzas among the six of us.
At this point, Sherri, Andrea
and I decide to return to the house to rest. We walked back. I laid
down, and started to rest. But about 6:45 I woke up to find that
Andrea and Sherri have returned to Disneyland, I decided to stay put
and take a shower. Lawrence
comes back about 8. I mostly lounge around the rest of the night,
before going to bed about 10:30.
