Wonder Valley was probably settled around 1888. Looks lik the Valley was originally settled through violence and murder. The valley was originally called Harmon Valley. A school district was established in 1880. In 1911 George W Pierson bought 1,5000 acres to raise horses and cattle. He called it Wonder Valley. His ranch contained sites of eight different Yokut villages. His ranch was the first dude ranch in California. Hollywood stars would come to Wonder Valley In 1948, the ranch was sold to Paul&Becky Webb. Then around 1973, it was sold to Stan Oken and Jerry Siegel. The dude ranch was turned into Wonder Valley Resort and Conference Center. From Oak to Pine to Timberline by Helen and Forest Clingman
The Elwoods were a major part of Wonder Valley. In 1891 there were four listings for holdings by the Elwoods. It was here where Gat Dalton stole one of the Elwood's horses. They eventually owned 1,400 acres there. One of the Elwoods was there at the capture of Sontag and Evans at the Stone Corral in Yettem. From Oak to Pine to Timberline by Helen and Forest Clingman
