February 2, 2022 – Driving Fresno to San Jose

Title: February 2, 2022 – Driving Fresno to San Jose

Hike Info:
Type:Car

Description:

It is a typical Duran start to a trip. We do not leave until a little before noon. But then again, we do not really have to be in San Jose at any set time. I just want to be there before rush hour. When I get up, I do a few things like load my thumb drive with various files, send off a few emails and do a few last minute things before our 12 day trip to Hawaii.

Before we get too ready, both Sherri and I tested negative for COVID. I have had this off and on thing, which I was a bit concerned about-not serious, unless it is COVID. But this is the second negative test, so I am OK.

We are already 90% packed, just getting a few odds and ends together. We are able to leave after lunch with Sherri driving. When we get to Los Banos, we have a hamburger at Foster Freeze. Actually, we order there and go across the street into the park to eat. Then I start driving.

When we get to San Luis Reservoir, we stop in at the office. California has an annual pass which allows seniors to enter almost all State Parks during the off-season for free. A real saving. We purchase our pass and then are on our way. It is a bit late to actually use it today.

We get to San Jose a bit after three, but before the rush hour really starts. After wandering around a bit, we find the hotel, Holiday Inn Express-San Jose Airport and get all checked in. David meets us at the lobby and we exchange hugs and greetings. We give him a few things to pack in his checked baggage.

After getting situated in our room, which is really nice, we go for a walk, about a mile and a quarter or so. By this time, it is dark. We stop by David and Kevin’s room to coordinate our plans for the morning. Then we head off to bed. Nothing very exciting today.
