Description:
The two large lakes on either side of Muir Pass were named by R. B. Marshall, U.S.G.S., for the daughters of John Muir. The one at the source of the Middle Fork of Kings River was named for Mrs. Helen Muir Funk. (R. B. Marshall.)  From Place Names of the High Sierra (1926) by Francis P. Farquhar
