Description:
“Kuna Peak, between Tuolumne and Mono counties, is probably named from the Shoshonean word Kuna, usually meaning ‘fire,’ but appearing in the Mono dialect of the vicinity with the signification of ‘fire-wood’.” (Kroeber: California Place Names of Indian Origin, 1916, p. 45.) - Kuna Peak: In Yosemite National Park, on the southeast end of Kuna Crest and at the head of Kuna Creek, due west of Koip Peak and 12.4 km (7.7 mi) west-northwest of the village of June Lake. (US-T121)
- Kuna Crest: In Yosemite National Park, extends southeast from Mammoth Peak to Kuna Peak, bound on the east by Parker Pass Creek, Kuna Lake, Bingaman Lake, Spillway Lake, Parker Pass Lake and Helen Lake, and bound on the west by Lyell Canyon. (US-T121)
- Kuna Creek: In Yosemite National Park, heads at an unnamed lake rising on the south slope of Kuna Peak, flows west into Lyell Creek at the head of Lyell Canyon. (US-T121)
