Description:
There is a Dantes Peak Trail, so I assume there is a Dantes Peak. But GNIS does not have it on their list of names. Also NPS references a Dantes Ridge. Sam story on GNIS.
From Wikipedia : In April 1926, some businessmen of the Pacific Coast Borax Company, informed of the touristic attractiveness of Death Valley, were trying to pick the best view of Death Valley. They had nearly chosen Chloride Cliff in the Funeral Mountains when the Deputy Sheriff of Greenwater, Charlie Brown, carried them from this peak a little distance to the Black Mountains. The group was immediately persuaded and promptly called this point Dante's View.
From GNIS:

- Book-Best Easy Day Hikes Death Valley National Park. Has an easy(???_ one mile hike to Dante's View and Peak. Elevation rise of 229'. While the trail itself is easy, it is a use trail on the side of a ridge. So the "easy" part is a bit misleading, particularly for those with height concerns.
