Description:
Redinger Lake was constructed by Southern California Edison in 1951 on the South Fork of the San Joaquin River above Kerckhoff Reservoir. Redinger Lake is part of the Big Creek Hydroelectric project which includes a system of lakes, tunnels, steel penstocks and power houses that uses water to generate electricity. The reservoir is named after David H. Redinger who helped plan and execute the Big Creek Hydroelectric project.  From US Forest Service site

Mr. Redinger devoted all his adult life as a brilliant engineer and manager to the planning, construction and development of the Southern California Edison Company's Big Creek-San Joaquin
River hydroelectric project. Mr. Redinger retired from service with the Southern California Edison
Company on November 1, 1947. Mr. Redinger won the respect and admiration of all who were associated with him during these years, not only because of his great capabilities as an engineer and manager, but also by his integrity and character.  From SCE documents submitted to GNIS
