KANAWYER[Tehipite]

Poly (Napoleon) Kanawyer maintained a camp at Copper Creek in Kings River Cañon for many years. (J. N. Le Conte.)

The Kanawyer's family operated a camp store way before there was a road into the Canyon. It was a supply stop for anybody who passed through there. Around 1902 is when their sharing of supplies formally became a store. The only trace left of the store is a circle of trees they planted.
