I may be getting used to the
time difference. I woke up at 7:45 this morning. The question is will
we be going to church this morning at Ashley’s church? If so, we
need to leave at 9:30. Sherri got up this morning wondering if she
has a sore throat. Also none of us seem that energetic so we do not
go. We actually lounge around, talking about TSAPreCheck and the
Margaret Mitchell repository
at the Central Library-it is closed today.

.
So we decided to go there and get a TSA PreCheck. We leave about
12:30, walk to the bus stop and take the #110 over to Lenox Square.
Lenox Square is just a huge shopping mall. But we have no trouble
finding the CLEAR station. It is right in front of the Adidas shop.
But we do not have the proper identification to get the TSA PreCheck.
Our REAL Driver’s License is not good enough. The best thing to
have is our passport. I have an image on the phone, but that is not
good enough. Oh well, guess we will need to get it in Fresno.
Now what to do? We have three
options: Go to Brookhaven Country Club Lake, Blackburn Park-where the
cherry blossom festival will be held next week and/or Lenox Park. We
are close to Lenox Park and Sherri has read about the Park, so we
decide to go there and later on to one of the other parks.
It is a mile and a half
walk-no bus service-to the Park. So we start walking. It is the
warmest day in Atlanta so far. I am glad I have on my short-sleeve
shirt. There is lots of traffic along Roxoboro Road, reminding me why
I do not like walking along busy roads. Sherri seems to be dragging.
Not sure if it is the warmth or her actually being sick. She is being
a trooper and continuing on.
Lenox Park is both a Park and
a neighborhood. The neighborhood looks pretty upscale. We see a sign
saying that townhouses are starting at $800,000. Wowza! Also at one
point when trying to find a place to stay in Atlanta, I looked at the
Residence Inn which is in this neighborhood. I did not go very far as
it is being remodeled and did not have many of the amenities which
Residence Inns are known for. Also I am glad we did not go here as
the MARTA station is not as convenient as our place.
We ended up at the far eastern
end of Lenox Park. We were a bit tired and looked for a place to
rest. First at a picnic table, but then across a bridge at a bench in
the shade. The Park has a tranquility about it. Maybe it is the lake
in the middle or the lack of crowds or just the trees starting to get
ready for Spring. The ducks on the lake are enjoying themselves. It
is a good place to read and I continue reading The
Count of Monte Cristo.
Sherri is ready to rest and enjoy the time sitting. After about half
an hour, I walk around the lake which includes going all the way to
Roxoboro Ave and back-not that it is that far, maybe a mile round
trip. Still it felt good to stretch my legs. |

I had noticed on a map that
there may be a shortcut back to our AirBnB. But when I looked at it,
it would include going down into a gully and then over an 8’ fence.
I guess we are not going that way.
When I get back, we sit for
another 15 minutes and then leave. The Park is nice and relaxing, but
I think Sherri is ready to be able to lay down. We walked the length
of the Park and picked up Roxoboro. Going up it gets us to Peachtree.
We have a choice: wait for the bus or walk another ¾ mile. Sherri
decides that we can walk it. And we do. We get back to our room about
4:45, ready to have some cold water and rest. And that is what we do
for the rest of the afternoon.
I fixed us a light dinner-that
is peanut butter sandwiches. Sherri slept most of the time this
evening, but finally woke up enough to eat the sandwich and go back
to bed. We have a Wednesday Zoom call which Atlanta time starts at
9:30. I got on. Sherri got on about 10:30. We wrapped it up a little
after 11. We went to bed shortly afterwards.
