Apparently there is local confusion on Lady and Madera Lakes. The most current maps say that the lake at the coordinates above is Madera Lake. But on some maps and in many trail guides it is known as Lady Lake. The tarn above Madera Lake has the name of Lady Lake.

the peak with a red pencil circle around it. The present name of the peak has no special significance and is confusing to the public as tO'.the black streak which presumbaly suggested the present name cannot be seen from the natural approach and it therefore is often confused with other dark peaks near it. This confusion is further added to by the peak's being known locally as Jackass Mountain', Red Around 1932Top, and Red Eagle. It is obvious that Black Peak fork of Granite Creek should also be changed to Madera Peak fork if this change is approved*
