Description:
According to the book California Trails High Sierra Region by Peter Massey, Jeanne Wilson, Angela Titus, Patterson Bluffs and Mountain was named after John A Patterson, a native of Georgia who had a large ranch in the area. He moved to the area in 1852 to mine gold, made come money and bought cattle. He stayed around the Kings River for abut 14 years.  Later on, he was a major player in building the Fresno County courthouse.
