I think our bed will take a bit to get used to. Not because it is uncomfortable, rather it just is different. I woke up early and needed to work on getting back to sleep. Sherri did not seem to have this problem.

Icy Road
Today is Christmas. The day when we celebrate God sending His Son to redeem the world. While this Christmas there does not seem to be too many overt references to this, it is the base of how our family was developed.

Before breakfast, David, Andrea, Rachel, Korra, Friday and I decided to walk over to the Olson cabin. They have a hot water pot which will be of use to us. Lawrence cannot be with us as he needed to be with his family. The cabin is about a mile and a half each way.

Winter Wonderland

Did I mention that it snowed last night? While the snow is mostly off the road and only a bit on the side. But it is cold and was colder last night. Parts of the road are pretty icy. This does not seem to bother the rest of them. But the old man of the group, it does. Maybe it is the caution of knowing that a fall can break bones. Or the awareness of what happened to a friend before Thanksgiving. I speak pretty gingerly and slowly. Still it is fun walking.

On the way back, Andrea and I take a side trail past a lake. The sign says that this trail belongs to a local ski club and no dogs are allowed. We come out on the other side. The others just come into view when we make it back to the road.

PreDinner, or maybe breakfast

When we get home, Steven and Sherri are up. Pancakes are on the menu for breakfast. I think most of us are content to relax. Rachel seems to have found energy and off doing dishes and doing all sorts of stuff. Afterwards, I think Andrea is anxious to have us open Lawrence and hers presents to us. They had gone to Italy for their honeymoon and gotten glassware from Munro. Others bring out gifts and there is happiness all around.

After a while, we decided to play the round of rummy we did not do last night. Fun time playing with three teams and six hands. The general joy continues, especially among the winners.

Christmas Dinner
After a nap and more rest and relaxation, dinner is prepared. I think everybody may have had a hand in this, except for yours truly. The result was truly enjoyable looking and tasting.

More So Clover

After dinner there is a discussion about where we wanted to do next year’s Christmas. Several suggestions were made. Then the discussion turned to travel, particularly international travel. I have some qualms about travel. So I asked a series of questions, of everybody. Things like why do they want to travel? What have they gained by traveling? It was good to hear their comments.

After cleaning up, we introduced David to the wonders of So Clover. Fun playing with all of us. Then it was time for us to wander off to bed.
