Lawrence and Andrea
 Description:

I must be getting a bit more rest. Got up a little bit before 7:00. Looks like someone below is up while Sherri is still sleeping. Same routine as yesterday, writing up yesterday’s adventure.Of course during writing up yesterday’s activities, my computer keyboard stops responding. That never happened on my old Smith-Corona. Of course, neither would you be reading this blog.

Andrea and Lawrence are in training for a run at the start of August. So today, they are out getting an early morning seven mile run in before we go on our trip today and before it starts to rain. After they get back, Andrea goes to the Salem library to return some books. She takes me-she knows I have a library fetish. I am impressed with the cleanliness, size and range of its offering. Salem is about the third of the size of Fresno.

But the time we all get into the car, it is a bit before 11. There is one more stop to be made-Dutch Brothers for coffee. Then we head out on highway 22. A very pleasant trip, lots of greenery, which seems pretty par for this part of Oregon. When we hit highway 101, we head north along the ocean until we hit the creamery in
Tillamook. Along the way, we observe emerald colored pasture lands and a drizzle. By the time we park at 12:45, it is raining pretty hard.

Cheese making in action

Once inside, we go on the self-guided tour of how they process and make cheese. There are samples provided as well, along with the opportunity to purchase an assortment of cheeses. We are allowed to observe from a second story observatory the flow of milk being turned into cheese, then packaged. Pretty interesting.

Lunch Time

By the time 2:30 hits, we have not had lunch yet and are hungry. The pizza looks good and when we get it, it has a lot of cheese, of course. We also gets a salad, a hamburger and cheese curds. After finishing up our lunch, it is time for ice cream. Tillamook has an ice cream sampler-that seems like a good choice for us. All were good, now what did we have? I just do not remember.

Andrea and Lawrence want to go down the coast a little ways and see a campground where they are interested in staying, So we go to Cape Lookout

Cape Lookout
, which is an Oregon State Park. By now, it is raining really hard, so we tour the campsites in the car. Several of them looked pretty good, even though with this downpour, everything looked soggy. We then went over to the picnic area, looked around, got wet and retreated back into the car.

Lawrence drove us back to Salem. We arrived around 6. I think everybody is in the relaxation and recovery mode as we all lounged around. For dinner, we had last night’s leftovers. We talked for a while and then turned in for a good night's sleep..
