Description:
Named after the first admiral of the US Navy, David Glasgow Farragut-the guy who said, Damn the torpedo's! Full speed ahead!. His statue in Farragut Square was the first one in DC for a US Navy person. The bronze statue, which rests on a granite base, was cast from the USS Hartford bronze propellers and not from enemy cannon like most Civil War monuments in the city.
